Ti Kaye Village, Resort & Spa
Ti Kaye may be a small secluded resort but that’s no excuse to be
denied some of the conveniences of modern living. We have tried to
include much to do as well as comforts without destroying that
rustic, barefoot feel to the place. We have the usual suspects you
might find in most other resorts and sprinkled it down with some
high tech stuff that we hope you will enjoy.
Ti Kaye Village Resort is so named
because in Creole, Ti Kaye means Little
House and that’s what the resort looks like,
a village of little houses.
When I was gelling the concept, I felt
that this type of resort was not only the
sort of place I would like to stay at, but
it was the style that I felt best suited the
lay of the land and the location.
Since we are built on a hill side, all
cottages and rooms face the ocean, so all
have a great view. The down side of that of
course are stairs everywhere. For that
reason we are not recommended to persons who
may have difficulty with many stairs, and we
have no wheel chair ramps. The difference
between all of them is their proximity to
the ocean and level of privacy. All are
private but some are more than others.
There are aspects that all cottages and
rooms alike have in common aside from the
list of room amenities that are listed under
the “About Ti Kaye – What’s here” section.
All have outside garden showers, large
balconies and hammocks. They are designed so
that air flows through them or you can close
up and switch on an A/C.
These cottages are located nearest to the
water’s edge. This means closer,
uninterrupted view and best of all more
privacy. They are the most popular room
category and sell out first due to the fact
that we only have 8 of them.
These are
identical to the
ocean front with
pool except they are
recessed back and
are not on the water
front. If the Ocean
front cottages with
pools are all gone,
this is a great
alternative. We have
2 so again, get in
early. They sell
fast.
The cottage layout is the same as the ones with the pools but without a pool. They cost less but the view on all of them are fantastic. We clear the vegetation to make the view but I like trees so I also left quite a few. They all see over the roof on the ones in front so don’t worry, you will not be getting a garden or car park view one, they really are ocean view.
Ti Kaye has had a history of good food at reasonable prices. We want it that way and our theme has always been to match Caribbean flavours to main stream or international dishes. Why come all the way here to eat something that you can get just down the road from where you live?
We change the menus from time to time but always keep to the theme. We do occasionally change things to see what will happen and if people will respond positively Looking back over the years there are some dishes that just never leave the menu so if you are a returning guest, you should still recognize some of the dishes. If you don’t, try asking the Chef to make it for you. I hope we still have the recipe around somewhere.
Ti Kaye has 2 restaurants on property:
1. Kai Manje (Creole for house of eating or food) – here we serve all meals; breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our dinner menus are limited to about 4 starters, 4 mains and a variety of desserts, teas and coffees, however, the dinner menu changes daily to avoid boredom. We also have chef specials which can be just about anything.
However the breakfast and lunch menus are fixed.
Our style of cooking is a fusion of international dishes and Caribbean tastes and seasonings. We hope that our food meets your palates’ approval.
2. Ti Manje (Creole for small eating or food) – here we serve lunch only and it’s a fixed daily menu. It’s what you will expect on a beach; Burgers, salads, baguettes, etc.
Ti Kaye is located in a bay called “Anse Cochon” which translated means “bay of pigs”. It has always been one of the more popular beaches to visit on the west coast of St.Lucia. During the day we get a few visitors. Since we are a volcanic island, the dark (basalt) rocks produce a black sand. This mixed with the coral sand gives us the silver or gray sand you find on our beach. Watch out, it gets really hot during the day so wear slippers. We don’t doctor the pictures of the beach on this site. It looks lighter in colour when it is dry and darker when wet. It will never be a white sand beach nor will we attempt to make it so.
There are 166 steps down to the beach. Going down is easy; it’s coming back up that’s hard so just take your time. We don’t have a shuttle, however, if you are unable to make it, ask one of the staff to get you a ride. There is always a vehicle around that can help you back up.
On the beach you will find chairs, side tables, portable umbrellas and kayaks (and a volley ball court). The dive shop also has snorkeling gear and there are some good reefs with in swimming distance from the shore line. There are other beaches south of us and some venture to them on a kayak.
